dash-b · Terms

The agreement, in language you can read once.

These are the terms for using dash-b. They are written to be read rather than to be survived, and nothing important is hidden in a subordinate clause. Where a term is unusual, it is unusual in your favour and says so.

What this covers

Using the designer, and paying for it if you do

dash-b is a dashboard designer that runs in your browser, at app.dash-b.com, together with this website and the services a board can reach. Using any of it means these terms apply between you and us. If you do not accept them, the remedy is simple and immediate: close the tab. Nothing has been created that you would have to cancel.

Where you use dash-b for an employer or a client, you are confirming you may agree to this on their behalf, and "you" below means them as well as you.

The free tier

Designing is free, and stays free

You can design without an account, without a card and without telling us who you are, for as long as you like. That is not a trial with a clock on it. What the paid plans add is keeping and sharing the work — saved designs, published pages, collaborators, connected databases, AI generations — and the pricing page states exactly where each line falls.

Exporting is not, and will never be, a paid feature.

You can take a design out as a file, or take the whole designer out and run it on your own server, on any plan including no plan at all. If you stop paying us, what you have already made keeps working. This is written here rather than only on a feature page because it is a promise, not a specification.

Paid plans

Monthly or yearly, cancellable, and charged by Stripe

What you are billed

The price shown on the pricing page at the moment you subscribe, in the currency shown, for the billing period you chose there. A monthly plan is charged every month; a yearly plan is charged once for the whole year, in advance, at the lower rate the page quotes for it. Team is sold per seat from two seats up, and seats can be added and removed as the team changes; a change takes effect from the billing period it falls in.

Who takes the money

Stripe. You are sent to Stripe's own checkout page and your card details never pass through us. We are told that a payment succeeded, not what it was made with.

Cancelling

Whenever you want, from your own account, without writing to anybody. The plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for and then stops renewing. We do not refund an unused part of a period as a matter of course, and we would rather be asked than have you assume the answer is no.

Price changes

A price can change. If it changes for a plan you are already on, you are told before the first renewal at the new price, in time to cancel instead. A price never changes retroactively on a period already paid for.

Failed payments

If a payment fails, the plan's limits return to the free tier. Nothing is deleted for non-payment: your designs remain, and remain exportable.

Tax

Prices are shown excluding any tax that applies where you are. Stripe works out and adds what is owed at checkout.

Your work

What you make is yours, and stays yours

Every design, every layout, every piece of text and every file you upload belongs to you. We claim no ownership of any of it and we do not use it to train anything.

To store your work, show it to you on another machine, and serve a page you have chosen to publish, we need your permission to hold and transmit it — so you give us exactly that permission, for exactly those purposes, and it ends when you delete the work or the account. It is not a licence to do anything else with it, and there is no clause below reinstating one.

Where you connect your own database or another account, you are confirming you are allowed to. Databases are connected read-only and dash-b cannot write to them, but permission to read is still yours to give and not ours to assume.

Fair use

The short list of things not to do

Do not publish what you may not publish

A published page is on the public internet under your name. What is on it is your responsibility: its legality, its accuracy, and whether you had the right to put it there.

Do not attack the service

No attempts to break in, to read other people's work, to overwhelm the service, or to get around the limits of a plan by technical means. Finding a way in and telling us is welcome and always will be; finding a way in and using it is not.

Do not resell the seat

A seat is for a person. Building dashboards for clients on your own account is exactly what dash-b is for and is encouraged; sharing one login between a team so that nobody has to buy a seat is not.

If something goes wrong at your end

We may suspend an account that is breaking these terms, and we will say why. Except where the law or an obvious abuse makes it impossible, you get a chance to put it right first, and your designs remain exportable throughout.

What we are not promising

No uptime guarantee, and we will not pretend otherwise

dash-b is a young product. There is no service level agreement, no compensation scheme for downtime, and no certification to show you. The service is provided as it is, with the faults it has, and we fix what we find.

Two things soften that, and both are real rather than rhetorical. The designer runs in your browser, so it keeps working on a machine that cannot reach us at all. And the whole thing exports: if you need a guarantee nobody can give you, run it inside your own boundary, where the question stops being about us. That is described on the self-hosting page.

To the extent the law allows it, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — lost profit, lost business, lost data you had no copy of — and where we are liable, that liability is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited, including for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else the law of your country puts beyond the reach of a contract.

Ending it

You can leave at any moment, with everything

Delete the account from inside it and it goes, along with the designs on it and any pages published from it. There is no retention period during which we quietly keep a copy, and no exit interview. Take your work out first — the export is one action and needs no plan.

We may end an account for a serious breach of the terms above, or if we stop offering the service. If we ever stop offering it, you get notice and time to export, because a designer you cannot get your work out of was never the thing we said it was.

The formal part

Changes, law, and who to write to

Changes to these terms

They can change as the product does. A change that materially affects you is announced before it takes effect, with its date, in the changelog — the same place every other change is announced. Continuing to use dash-b after that is acceptance; if you would rather not, cancelling is the answer and your work still exports.

If a clause fails

If any part of this is unenforceable where you live, the rest still stands, and that part is read as narrowly as it has to be rather than struck out wholesale.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Poland, and the Polish court having jurisdiction over the company's registered office hears a dispute under them. If you are a consumer, that does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, or your right to bring a case where you live — nothing here is trying to move you somewhere inconvenient.
